und wenn wir heute sonst nichts gelernt haben

Hocket.

Derived from Latin and French words for "hiccup" (hoquetus, hoquet ), the term means a complete polyphonic work, or a passage from such a work, in which single notes or short groups of notes in one voice are accompanied by rests in at least one additional voice. The roles of the constituents are rapidly exchanged, with the asynchronous "on-off" writing producing an intricate "hiccuping" effect.
